Ed Wood Film Festival

The objectives of Ed Wood are for both undergraduate and graduate students to learn, network, and of course, have fun. It challenges students to think on their feet in a creative situation, forcing them to practice all dimensions of filmmaking: writing a concise and comprehendible story, casting, directing, shooting, and editing. This challenge highlights the importance of teamwork and will test how far their imaginations can take them using the given theme within the 24 hours it takes to make the film. We also want the students to network, an opportunity given on the night of the premier where the filmmakers have a chance to mingle with one another before, during the breaks, and after. In addition, they also have an opportunity to talk to industry professionals and noted USC faculty from the Cinema, Communication, Business, and Theater Schools. Lastly, we want the students to have fun and understand that it is a challenge to help them learn, but also a challenge that they should be enjoying.
